I don't know about you guys, but this NSale really has me feeling like fall fashion lately. I'm in no way ready for summer to end, but I can't help but love fall fashion. It really is the greatest season for style. Today I'm sharing this adorable striped off-the-shoulder top that will take you from summer to fall in a snap. I also wanted to share 3 tips for transitioning your wardrobe for fall and the upcoming cooler temps.
This top is obviously a great top to wear right now while it's hot outside. What I like about it to transition it to fall is that it is black which is a great fall/winter color and it's striped which is a universal pattern for all year. It doesn't scream summertime even though it's off-the-shoulder and short sleeved. My first tip is to choose patterns and fabrics that are versatile for multiple seasons. It's a great way to ensure your wardrobe will take you from season to season without having to wipe out your entire closet and start over.
I've said this about a million times so please forgive the fact that I'm a broken record and let's just move on with life! When you're out shopping, think of 3 different scenarios that you could wear any single piece in. If you can't see yourself wearing it to 3 different events then don't buy it. When it comes to transitioning your wardrobe to another season, use that same formula. Think about if you could wear the piece now and also in 3 months from now. For this top, I wore it last weekend with shorts, a blush bag, and sandals (you can see that photo here!). Today I paired it with skinnies, booties and a black crossbody bag. This is how I'll wear this top when the temps drop a little bit. Then once the temps drop a lot a bit, I'll add a jacket. I just easily described 3 ways I'll be able to wear this top now and in 3 months which makes me feel confident about purchasing it.
Accessories are a huge factor in transitioning your wardrobe. It's amazing what a bright bracelet stack for summer does to pull a look together. Those bracelets can be swapped out for a more fall-colored stack come September which will seamlessly take your look to a new season with little to no effort. Choose accessories that you know you'll get a lot of use out of during that season, but also include some staple pieces that work year-round. For example, I LOVE wearing bright jewelry in the summer since a lot of my closet is made up of neutrals. I just feel like the colors really pop and it makes my looks more fun. That being said, I don't wear certain colors in the colder months so I like to update my jewelry closet with new pieces appropriate for that season plus some staple pieces that work for the entire year. If you didn't know, I launched an accessory line called with love, sar. Right now, it's only bracelets, but I plan to expand it at some point as well. They are affordable pieces that allow you to buy seasonal pieces without breaking the bank. Ok, that's enough for my shameless plug ha!
